In the news…

We’re really excited about Quebec’s initiative to re-work liquor laws!  It could have a great affect on restaurants with alcohol permits like Le Cagibi:  Check out articles in  La Presse and the Montreal Gazette for more info.

NUIT BLANCHE AU CAGIBI 2012

“Ca a Passé Juste / It Just Barely Went”
As part of Nuit blanche à Montréal presented by Hydro-Québec during the HIGH LIGHTS FESTIVAL Saturday, February 25th, 2012.

Marking the third year in a row, le Cagibi is pleased to participate in Nuit blanche à Montréal. The cafe will be open all night long, entry is FREE and all are welcome.

Ca a Passé Juste / It Just Barely Went is a Francesca Tallone (patternclash) curation.
Playing with the idea of minimal, ambient space at le Cagibi, the back room will be filled with sound and given a double sided projection to face both inside and out of the cafe. There will also be a mini show-within-a-show, exhibiting small scale works in the Distroboto machine.

Markus Lake (+ Drew Barnet) Questionably Related
Celebrating the idea of spontaneous orchestration, independent/random noise-making and James Joyce’s Ulysses, Lake’s sound installation will create a cellphone/laptop orchestra using QR codes. The QR codes point to short videos created for this project, all of which relate directly to readings of Ulysses (celebrating Joyce’s public doma[i]n-ance!).

Analogue/Digital video loop, 7:55, 2011
Analogue matter decays, digital matter becomes outdated. A loop suspends time. Analogue signal sent to digital and back again and back again etc. Ending in digital, decay is preserved, only to become outdated.

Distroboto Minishow
DISTROBOTO machines are former cigarette dispensers which have been converter to no longer sell cigarettes, but instead, sell art in the form of miniature books, crafts, comics, music, film, animation and more. Opening the night of Nuit blanche will be a new group of artists in the Distroboto machine: Danielle St Amour; Jody Zinner; Steve Wiseman; among others.
